Epilepsy
Epilepsy is a neurological disorder that causes recurrent and unprovoked seizures. It is caused by abnormal electrical activity in the brain and can vary greatly in severity and type. Common symptoms and characteristics include:
- Seizures: These may involve temporary confusion, staring spells, uncontrollable jerking of limbs, or loss of awareness.
- Emotional Symptoms: Fear, anxiety, or deja vu sensations before seizures.
- Triggers: Stress, sleep deprivation, or flashing lights can provoke seizures in some individuals.
- Treatment often includes antiepileptic medications, lifestyle changes, and in some cases, surgery.
