Neuropsychiatric Condition
Sleep Disorders
Sleep disorders are conditions that impair the ability to get quality rest, leading to physical and mental health issues. Sleep disorders can disrupt the normal sleep cycle and may be acute or chronic. Key types include:
- Insomnia: Persistent difficulty in falling or staying asleep, often leading to daytime fatigue and irritability.
- Narcolepsy: A chronic sleep disorder characterized by overwhelming daytime drowsiness and sudden attacks of sleep, which can be dangerous in activities like driving.
- Sleep Apnea: A potentially serious condition where breathing repeatedly stops and starts during sleep, resulting in poor oxygen levels and disturbed rest.
- Restless Legs Syndrome (RLS): An uncontrollable urge to move the legs, often accompanied by unpleasant sensations, which can interfere with the ability to fall or stay asleep.
